Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony will be held outside on the beach at the Hilton Sandestin property. A cocktail hour will be held outdoors on the main deck immediately after the ceremony. The reception will be held indoors in the Emerald Grand ballroom.
What will the weather be like?
June temperatures in Destin (Miramar Beach) can range from the high 80’s to low 90’s. Our ceremony will begin near sunset so it may be just a smidge cooler, but come prepared for very warm weather.
Can I bring my children?
While we love your little ones, our wedding is going to be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home so you can celebrate with us. Please no children under the age of 12 at the ceremony or reception.
Can I bring a date?
We have a strict guest list to remain on budget. Our wedding is RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation.
Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay.
Yes, and we recommend staying at the host hotel, Hilton Sandestin. All events including the wedding will be happening at this location. Please request the Wilson-Sawyer room block when requesting a room here. We have provided other local accommodations on the Travel & Stay page.
I am staying off property, how long will it take to get to the Hilton?
For every 5 miles from the Hilton Sandestin resort we recommend adding 35 minutes to your travel time due to heavy traffic on I-98.
When is the RSVP Deadline? Do I need to mail my RSVP or can I do it online?
The RSVP deadline is May 5th, please submit your RSVP by that date. You do not need to return any RSVP’s by mail, you can RSVP here. Be sure to notate if you have any dietary concerns on the RSVP page.
What time should I arrive?
We recommend that you arrive 45 minutes to an hour before the start of the ceremony to ensure we can begin the ceremony on time!
If I am not staying at the host hotel, how do I get on property and where should I park?
To get onto the Hilton Sandestin property, upon entering the gate tell the guard that you are attending the Wilson-Sawyer wedding or wedding function at the Hilton Sandestin resort.
You can park in the parking garage near the front lobby or in front of the Hilton Spa Tower building.
What happens after the ceremony?
After the ceremony, guests can head directly to the deck area for cocktail hour where we will be serving hors d’oeuvres and beverages.
Will food and drinks be served at the reception?
Yes, dinner will be served and drinks will be available at the bar :). If you require a vegetarian or specialty food option please notate this when you RSVP.
Are there other wedding events I can attend?
Yes, please visit the Events page for more information. And don’t forget to RSVP.
Are you registered?
Yes, please visit our registry here.
Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media?
We kindly ask that you respect our wishes in having an unplugged ceremony- this means no pictures should be taken during the ceremony, except those taken by our professional photographer.
After the ceremony has concluded, we encourage guests to take as many pictures as they would like. Our one request is that any picture posted on your social media channels be tagged with our wedding hashtag #ThenISawyerFace so that we can keep track of all the pictures.
What should I do if I can’t make it?
You will be missed! If you cannot make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no,” so that we can plan accordingly.
I still have questions, what is the best way to reach you?
Please contact Clarese or Jawara via cell/email or submit your question in your RSVP.
Navigating COVID-19 at our wedding:
Despite the progress we have seen surrounding the distribution of vaccines, we want to remain vigilant by taking every safety precaution possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please be sure to wear your mask at all events. Additionally we plan to socially distance seating for events indoor and outdoors. We will also provide hand sanitizers and masks in your welcome bag (you will receive this at the mixer on June 4th).
**As much as we want everyone to be able to celebrate in person, we do ask that if you are feeling ill, have been exposed to COVID-19, or tested positive with COVID-19 within two weeks of the wedding to please stay home and toast us from afar.
